Treat people with respect

Every person you meet is a real human being. Be kind, be curious, and give people the same respect you would want in return. Disagreements are fine. Cruelty is not.

Zero tolerance

The following are strictly prohibited and will lead to removal from the platform:

• Hate speech of any kind, including racism, slurs, and attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
• Derogatory, demeaning, or dehumanizing language toward any person or group.
• Harassment, bullying, stalking, threats, or intimidation.
• Encouraging or glorifying violence or self harm.

Protect minors

Instinct Chat is for adults only. Any content that sexualizes, endangers, or exploits a minor is absolutely forbidden, will result in an immediate and permanent ban, and will be reported to the appropriate authorities. If you believe you are speaking with a minor, end the conversation and report it right away.

Speak freely, don't threaten or dehumanize

Instinct Chat supports free speech. Strong opinions, politics, religion, dark humor, arguments and sexual talk between adults are all welcome. What isn't: threats against anyone, slurs, hate speech that attacks people for their race, religion, gender, sexuality or body, and telling someone to hurt themselves. Those messages are blocked before anyone sees them. Repeated attempts mute you for 10 minutes, then remove you for 24 hours. Borderline messages are not blocked automatically; a person reviews them.

Profile photos

A profile photo is optional. If you add one, it must be a real photo of you, and you must be 18 or older. Every photo is checked before anyone else can see it. These are not allowed:

• Nudity or sexual acts. Shirtless, swimwear, and underwear photos are fine.
• Anyone who is, or appears to be, under 18. This includes childhood photos of yourself.
• Alcohol.
• AI-generated or heavily synthetic images.
• Text on the image that advertises other sites, shares contact details, or sells anything.
• Someone else's photo. The same picture cannot be used on more than one account.

Repeated attempts to upload photos that break these rules pause photo uploads on your account, first for 24 hours, then for 7 days, then until a person reviews it.

Room rules

• Stay on the room's topic and let other people talk. Do not flood a room with repeated messages.
• Rooms are text only. Do not post links to explicit content, and do not use a room to sell anything or recruit for other sites.
• After Dark is for adult conversation between adults. Every other rule here still applies there, including consent and respect.
• Pick a handle that follows these guidelines. Handles that are hateful, impersonate staff, or suggest you are under 18 are replaced or removed.

Keep it legal and safe

• No illegal activity, and no promotion of illegal goods or services.
• No sharing of another person's private information, and no doxxing.
• No spam, scams, solicitation, or advertising.
• Never send money to or share financial or personal details with a stranger.

Voice chat

Voice chat in random chat is live and goes straight between the two people talking. It is not recorded, and nobody screens it as it happens, so the same rules apply and you are responsible for what you say. If someone breaks the rules on a call, hang up and report them; reports are reviewed by a person.

Respect boundaries

If someone asks you to stop or chooses to skip, respect that choice immediately. Consent and comfort come first. You are always free to skip to a new conversation or leave at any time.

Reporting and enforcement

Every chat and every room includes a Report tool, and random chats include Skip. If someone breaks these guidelines, leave the conversation and file a report. Reports are saved for review, and we may issue warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent bans depending on the severity. In a room, a person reported by several different people is removed from that room automatically.

Messages also pass through an automated safety filter before they are delivered. A message that appears to involve a minor is blocked and never reaches anyone, and repeated attempts lead to a ban. Serious violations, especially those involving minors, are escalated immediately. Voice calls cannot be filtered this way, so please report anything that happens on a call.
